While the check-in was a bit strange (the hotel is using a secondary check-in area instead of what was originally the main lobby... not really clear why?), the staff were all exceptionally friendly, and the hotel - while a bit worn - is kept very clean and was very comfortable. I fell asleep immediately in the comfy beds, and the down pillows and duvets are a nice touch. The AC/Heat worked well and was reasonably quiet, the windows could be opened for fresh air, and the vending machine wasn't trying to rip off the guests. I got the sense this hotel plays a major role in the local population - the ballroom was being used for a community event, and the restaurant drew a large, local crowd both nights. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, but the buffet breakfast was ample and well made (two types of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, grits or oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt, fruit, pastries, and bread!). The restaurant looks like it would be a bunch of fun in the summer/fall - there is a "tree house" in the Robin Hood-themed restaurant (which is surprisingly not over-the-top campy, but reasonably well done!) and lots of beers on tap. I'd come here again.

The staff was welcoming, helpful and courteous, especially, Chad. The location of the hotel was not in the part of Lancaster that I thought it would be in (my fault) but Chad was very helpful in giving us our bearings and pointing out different sites we could visit in the western part of Lancaster. We ended up driving more than we expected (to the Amish communities) and surrounding towns of interest.

The hotel is charming. It is an older large hotel that has been maintained well. The room was very comfortable and the cost was reasonable. It was quiet even on the main level with two floors above us. The breakfast buffet was good. They had fresh fruit that was a wonderful treat. Getting to the hotel was a little tricky due to construction and the hotel signage being small and not lit well.

Jean

The bedding and pillows were the most comfortable than we ever have experienced before. Usually it is difficult for us to sleep in hotel beds and we were pleasantly surprised at the comfort we experienced. We will never book a different hotel stay when we come visit our college student who attends PCAD in center city Lancaster.

I loved how unique and charming the decor was. So glad it did NOT have a modern cold vibe to it. I also loved how the decor was an acknowledgment to the character of the surrounding areas imbedded with beautiful vintage art, natural materials, and neutral tones. I was in heaven the moment I walked in!
